collage is such a wonderful medium because it’s representative of everything (literally). each living being, place, and experience is a mashup of many beautiful, unique, rich, and confusing things. by collecting papers, pictures, fabrics, and memories and gluing them together, i am creating a microcosm of my inner and outer-world. it’s a personal expression while simultaneously inviting life around me to participate. it’s a way to practice focusing on the now, while reflecting on the past and future. collage is freedom from perfectionism or following a set of rules. much like journaling, there’s no wrong way to do it. as long as you’re authentically yourself while creating, the result will be perfect.
